Come out and join us May 7th from noon-6 for our third annual Huffabaloo at the historic Huff House located at 314 N Selvidge Street in Dalton, Ga! It will be educational and fun for the whole family!
Tours of the house will recreate the historical day of General Cleiburne's proposal to General Joseph E. Johnston of the Confederacy to arm slaves in exchange for their freedom at the conclusion of the Civil War. The story of the Huff Family (1892-1972) will also be demonstrated.
The May Pole Dance will be presented on the front lawn with lively music.
Groups of Scouts will be honoring the memory of other important historical historical figures from our local area.
Backyard festivities will include local musicians and many great activities for children. They will have the opportunity to hunt for coins or dinosaurs in sand. Their will be a climbing wall for ages 8 and up, and all ages can will be able to try walking on stilts.
Food and treats will be available from local restaurants, and there will be an auction from the finest of Dalton's store merchandise.
Proceeds from the festival will go towards the further renovation and restoration of the Huff House. They will also go towards plans to house a Civil War museum in the house adjoining the Huff House.
